Sales policy

Thank you for taking the time to read our sales policy before deciding to purchase!
I have the right to refuse a sale, If you come to check out the bunnies and I think you are unfit to own a rabbit, we reserve the right to refuse or cancel a sale to anyone for any reason.
Rabbits may be picked up at Riverber pet supplies store. We now have a transporter who delivers from NS to Ontario, please send us a message to inquire about costs. There is a limit of two baby bunnies per household at once, and only if they are the same gender and from the same litter. This is to prevent unplanned/inbred litters or unbonded/intact bunnies from fighting.

*PET QUALITY MALE/FEMALE PAIRS WILL NOT BE SOLD, SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK. If you intend to breed your bunnies, please inquire about a pedigreed pair.* Click here to fill out our breeder form. Note that our lionlops will not be sold to breeders for quite some time, as they are a new unestablished project.

Bringing bunny home
You never want to carry a bunny on your lap or have them loose in the car. It's super dangerous and scary for your already stressed bunny. So you're going to want a soft or hard carrier to bring your bunny home in. I recommend a small cat carrier, but if you have a carrier already that's fine, just make sure they aren't going to go flying if the car takes a sudden stop. We will not let a bunny leave riverbend unless they have a proper carrier to travel in!  Having a pet carrier is important for  vet visits as well as moving your bunny from one area to another, as most bunnies don't feel very secure being carried by hand. We do have pet carriers in our shop, so please message us if you're looking for one! to prepare the carrier for your bunny, just add a blanket and some hay in a toilet paper tube and you are good to go! You always want hay accessible to your bunny, they likely won't eat it, but it's still a good idea to pack it.

I am not responsible for your bunny after the you take your bunny home, nor will I be responsible for any costs or health issues that they may have. However, we guarantee that to the best of our knowledge, On the day you take your bunny home, they will be in good health, and of good temperment. Upon pickup, your bunny will be looked over with you. PLEASE EXAMINE YOUR BUNNY FULLY. We will check for clear eyes/nose (no signs of illness), top teeth are over the bottom teeth, and how the gender was determined.  You are responsible for following recommendations for Bunny's care and diet as well as seeking veterinary assistance if necessary. We will not sell a pet bunny that has shown signs of aggression, but keep in mind that bunnies can become hormonal around 5/6 months of age.  Spaying/neutering generally helps these behaviours and aids in calming his/her behavior.

Baby bunnies can be sensitive to stress, including change in environment and diet. Minimizing this stress by keeping them in a calm quiet environment with minimal handling will help with this transition as well as keeping cages/food dishes cleaned daily, washing your hands before handling, and keeping bunny on a proper diet of high quality hay/pellets and age appropriate treats.

We do not give out refunds.  We do our best at assessing your bunny's gender, health, quality but it is your responsibility to approve your bunny before you adopt them. We are usually very good at gendering rabbits, but we are not professionally trained and with young bunnies being so small, errors can occur.
All sales are final once the transaction is complete.
Payment: We accept cash, PayPal, debit/credit or e-transfer

We strive to improve our herd through selective breeding, so we occasionally have young and adult rabbits for sale. We decide which ones will improve our program, and which we think will make great companions. They are raised as part of the family and come with some litter training skills as well.

Our rabbits are not sold for profit. The money that we make goes right back to our bunnies. It pays for their housing, food, toys, vet care etc.  We are actively working towards ARBA's breed standard, but our main priority at Riverbend is their health, temperament, intelligence, and handleability. We take great pride in our level of daily care.
We raise beautiful, quality, bunnies that also make exceptional pets.
If you decide, for whatever reason, you cannot continue to care for a rabbit purchased from my rabbitry, I may accept that rabbit back into my care. There will be no refund of any portion of the original price of that rabbit.

Pricing

Raising healthy, well socialized bunnies, is a lot of work! When I am pricing my bunnies, there are many factors that I take into consideration including quality, colour, costs of caring for the bunny, litter size, gender, litter training experience, socializing, handling, time I put into them, high quality feed, large solid floor pens, a relaxed breeding schedule, age of the bunny and more.

*Baby bunnies are sold as pets with no pedigrees.  Pedigrees are available for some junior/senior bunnies, but availability is extremely limited. Please apply here for breeding rights.

Reservations

In order to put a hold on an available bunny, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required via e-transfer. The remainder is due the day you pick up your bunny. Your deposit will ONLY be refunded if we cancel the sale for any reason, or the bunny is determined to be of a different gender BEFORE they leave our care. If you change your mind about the bunny you chose, or do not contact us about a pickup date, your deposit is considered a donation towards caring for Riverbend's bunnies and will not be refunded. Please discuss a new bunny with your entire household before you reserve a bunny. We will hold a reserved bunny for up to 2 weeks, after that, boarding fees will apply.

*You cannot switch to a different bunny once you reserve. You cannot save your reservation for a different rabbit. Be sure the bunny you choose is the one you are committed to!*

Picking up your bunny (covid procedures)

Due to Covid-19 our pickup routine has changed. Here are our rules;
1. Please do not come pick up your bunny if you are sick, showing any symptoms, have been travelling, or are NOT practicing social distancing.
2. Only one person is to come grab the bunny. We want to keep contact with others limited.
3. We encourage paying by e transfer for the same reason, the less contact the better. However, we do have a contactless square reader on site as well for credit/debit payments.

Spay/neuter voucher
When you adopt a bunny from riverbend, we will give you a voucher for our shop. You receive in-store credit when you return with proof of spay/neuter within 6 months of purchase. We believe house bunnies are their healthiest and happiest when desexed! Getting your bunny fixed is an important part of having a house bunny. It prevents all types of reproductive cancers and illnesses. Getting them fixed can even double your bunnies lifespan. And on top of all of the health benefits, it can help you bond with your bunny even more. When bunnies hit puberty around 4 or 5 months of age, they can start to behave hormonally. These behaviours can include fighting with each other for no reason, spraying pee on their territory, humping, lunging and other undesirable behaviours. Getting them fixed can make their urine smell less potent, improve their litter box habits, remove aggressive and nervous behaviours, makes it possible to bond to other bunnies, and much more.
In the event where you no longer can keep your Riverbend bunny, I will always either take your Riverbend bunny back, or help you find him/her a new forever home, without any judgement. That being said, I will not be buying them back or refunding you any amount in order to take them back. It costs me time/money taking in a new bunny, quarantining them, and spending money at the vet. I take them back because I care about your bunny, not because it benefits me.
After reading our sales policy, if you would like to inquire about our rabbits, please feel free to fill out our adoption application and Click here for to read our FAQ for more information on how to adopt a Riverbend bunny
